ETHICS AND TRANSPARENCY STATEMENT.

The work here at Kelly Swingler Ltd, and in the Burnout Academy is founded on lived experience, emerging science, and professional integrity.

I believe that coaching must evolve to meet the real needs of clients facing Burnout, and that starts with truth, not trend.

My work is guided by the following principles:

1. We do not diagnose or treat Burnout as a medical condition.

While I speak openly about the cognitive, emotional, and physiological impacts of Burnout, The Burnout Academy does not offer clinical or therapeutic services. I train coaches to recognise signs, reduce harm, and refer responsibly—never to diagnose or ‘fix.’

2. My approach is grounded in lived experience, existing evidence, and evolving research.

I have coached over 600 leaders through Burnout, experienced two severe Burnout episodes myself, and I’m actively pursuing PhD-level research into the neurological and trait-based impacts of Burnout. My teaching reflects the best available understanding from neuroscience, trauma studies, somatic psychology, and professional practice.

3. I acknowledge the limits of current science - and challenge them.

Burnout is often misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or minimised. The Burnout Academy exists to push the conversation forward. While in the Academy we use phrases like “Burnout-Aware” and “nervous-system informed,” I am clear about what we can currently claim—and where research is still emerging.

4. This is a movement, not just a methodology.

I am building the first coaching discipline intentionally designed around the neurological, psychological, and identity-level consequences of Burnout. While others offer CPD, I am committed to reshaping how coaching is taught, practiced, and measured.

5. I/We hold ourselves to high ethical standards.

All coaches trained through The Burnout Academy are expected to work within scope, operate transparently, and centre the safety, dignity, and autonomy of their clients.

I’m not just here to help people recover, I’m here to make sure the systems they return to don’t lead to Burnout all over again.
